          Early Life and Education

          Philippe Entremont was born into a family of musicians, with a conductor father and pianist mother.

          He studied at the Paris Conservatory under the tutelage of renowned pianists Jean Doyen and Marguerite Long.

          Piano Career

          Entremont's breakthrough came in 1951 when he won fifth place at the Long-Thibaud-Crespin International Piano Competition.

          He also received a second prize at the competition in 1953 and became a laureate of the Harriet Cohen International Music Award. In 1952, at the age of 18, he made his acclaimed debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Over the next three decades, he enjoyed a distinguished solo career, performing worldwide.
