Outstanding composer, choral conductor, pedagogue, and public figure. Recognized worldwide for composing the popular and critically acclaimed Shchedryk/ The Carol of the Bells.
He died tragically in 1921, at the age of only 43.
Mykola Leontovych was born on December 13, 1877 in the village of Monastyrok, Vinnytsia Oblast. His father was a village priest, skilled at playing cello, violin and guitar.
